We’re following on from our last blog regarding our highly-engineered Box Body Chiller Van, examining some of the many innovations that distinguish it from other vehicles on the market. This week, we’re taking a look at the door aperture, its high-impact GRP flooring and its sophisticated 360 camera system.
This is one of the less complex modifications, but worth mentioning regardless. We’ve designed the door aperture on our box body van to be as conveniently wide as possible, so that the doors open out at a comfortably wide angle. Nobody wants bumps and scrapes to any cargo (or elbows!) when loading up a chiller vehicle, which is the main issue that this adjustment tackles. Sometimes, it’s the little things that make all the difference.
This box body van feature does exactly what it says on the tin, and is both lighter and stronger than traditional solutions. First of all, the non-slip surface makes it easier and safer for staff to move around inside the chiller vehicle when loading it. It also means that the van’s contents are less likely to shift around when the chiller van is in transit, especially if they’re properly secured by other means. The inherent toughness of the material also makes it unlikely to crack or otherwise break, even under significant impacts.
The makeup of our GRP material includes fibreglass, grit and resin. It’s not applied by hand, which means it’s exempt from many of the problems that can often arise with human application. If anything it’s trapped underneath it during the layering process it can result in bubbles and raised sections. This can result in frequent bumps and scrapes, leading to the GRP being chipped away over time. These raised sections can also present tripping hazards in worst-case scenarios.
However, with our GRP, you don’t have to worry about that. We take care of it all here at CoolKit, so you can rest easy in the knowledge that the flooring of your van will be a full seal; consistent and even.
One of the more high-tech additions to our box body vans, the 360 camera system ensures safety for drivers and other road users, while giving additional security to fleet operators. An unbroken view all around the vehicle helps guard the driver’s blindspots. This means that not only is it easier to manoeuvre the chiller vehicle in tight spots, reducing the risk of damage to its body – but also it helps guarantee the safety of other road users such as pedestrians and cyclists, who are vulnerable to injury if they venture into an area that the driver can’t clearly see.
As an additional bonus from an operational point of view, the constantly-recording camera provides irrefutable proof in the event of a collision or accident. Usually, road collisions are a case of one driver’s word against another, which can mean potentially thousands in court and repair costs for innocent parties. The 360 camera system helps put a stop to that – and because of its all-encompassing coverage, there’s next to no chance of a collision not being caught on tape.
As you’ve no doubt concluded, our new box body refrigerated vehicle is a very advanced piece of kit – but we’re not done yet! We’ve got one more article in the works to illustrate all of its finer modifications in detail, so that by the time you come to consider it for inclusion in your own fleet, you’ll be fully familiar with all its individual facets.
Until then, don’t hesitate to check out our new refrigerated vans or used chiller vehicles, any one of which can make an equally worthy addition to your business.
