The Burnley-based refrigerated vehicle conversion company won the ‘Manufacturing Excellence’ category at the Burnley Business Awards.
The category aimed to recognise excellence and best practice in Burnley’s strong manufacturing sector based on sales performance, growth prospects, product development, innovation, quality standards, investment in people and training and environmental awareness.
The judges were impressed by CoolKit’s significant growth over the last two years through their application of manufacturing techniques and processes. They commented that the business is now a highly productive business and leader in its refrigerated vehicle field.
CoolKit, which designs and manufactures fridge vans, was established in 2005 and is now the UK’s leading manufacturer for the refrigerated transport industry. They have completed over 6,000 conversions and pride themselves on delivering an outstanding product utilising the best materials and manufacturing ability to the customer.
Rupert Gatty, Managing Director of CoolKit, said: “We are honoured to win the Manufacturing Excellence Award.
“It’s been such a busy 12 months and the growth has been so fast that no one has had the chance to take a step back and look at how far we have come. This award has allowed us to do that.
“Receiving this award is a fantastic pat on the back for all the staff at CoolKit.”
The champagne celebration, honouring the best of Burnley, was jointly hosted by Burnley Council and Burnley Bondholders.
The winners of each category were announced in front of over 600 of Burnley’s movers and shakers by 2BR managing director Simon Brierley at the glamorous event held at the stunning Towneley Hall in Burnley.
CoolKit were also finalists in the Medium Business of the Year category on the night. The company is also a finalist in four categories of the BIBAs, presented in September.
