We had a fantastic 2018 here at CoolKit, steadily growing and innovating as we helped customers expand their fleets with our market-leading range of fridge and freezer vans. We’re always refreshing our stock of refrigerated vans here at CoolKit, and there were some that, throughout the year, distinguished themselves as clear customer favourites – and with good reason! Here are our three most popular fridge vans of 2018, along with some brief explanations of what attracts so many customers to them.
Though it’s got a universal appeal, the Renault Trafic is a particularly popular option amongst small businesses and other SMEs due to its affordable price range and famous reliability. It’s also a hardy vehicle that can really go the distance for longer-haul journeys; including cross-country or even international trips. This makes it a great choice for businesses with a regional or nationwide service. What’s more, part supply for the base van is plentiful, which means – coupled with our warranty on the refrigeration unit – any servicing on the Renault Trafic refrigerated van is often relatively inexpensive.
Business models of the Renault Trafic fridge van also comes with useful additional safety features, including ABS, electronic immobilisers, hill start assist, and an ECO mode button – just to name a few!
As far as large fridge vans are concerned, you can’t go wrong with the Peugeot Boxer. The build of the van makes it easy to load and unload, while the sheer payload alone is enough to sway the balance for some businesses, at an impressive 1229kg – perfect for making particularly high capacity deliveries, or several smaller ones. Driver comfort hasn’t been neglected either, which will always be welcome news for those making cross-country journeys. What’s more, the Peugeot Boxer comes in several variants that each have their own extra features. For example, the Professional model includes security features like deadlocks and steel bulkheads, as well as other helpful additions like rear parking aids and an Electronic Stability Program.

Tying for the first place of most popular medium refrigerated van is the Volkswagen Crafter, which shares a lot of the same advantages that makes the Peugeot Boxer quite such a hit with our customers. The load space is similarly expansive, and the cab is practical and comfortable. Professional reviews – as well as many of our clients at CoolKit – have noted that the van is surprisingly easy to drive considering its size, and its fuel economy is respectable too. All models of the Volkswagen Crafter are highly reliable, and individual models like the Trendline can also come with a range of additional features, such as ABS braking, Automatic Hazard Lights, and engine immobilisers.
The Crafter has won no shortage of industry awards in recognition of its build quality, versatility and overall value. It retained the Best Van title at the Parkers New Car Awards 2019, and its other awards include:
