CoolKit has won the prestigious title of Refrigerated Panel Van Of The Year at the 2017 TCS&D Awards.
The Temperature Controlled Storage & Distribution (TCS&D) Awards took place on Wednesday 13th September at the RICOH Arena in Coventry, recognising companies and individuals who have made a difference in the refrigeration industry. Within this category, the judges wanted to see consistent high quality standards linked with innovation, with value for money being also a major factor in the shortlisting criteria.
Our refrigerated panel vans have become known in the industry for their quality and durability. Our customers are able to trust our quality statements thanks to a number of proven certifications which provides them with the peace of mind they deserve.
1. ATP Certification
We are able to demonstrate that our refrigerated vehicles adhere to the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs standards and that the specialist equipment used the create the fridge conversion thanks to successfully acquiring ATP Certification by the UK Department For Transport. We not only applied for the Type Approval, but we were successfully enough to receive the FRC Classification (or also known as Class-C), the top level of classification possible, covering Mechanically Refrigerated with Heavy Insulated. This allows all our vehicles to be Type Approved, from a chiller van, to a freezer and even deep-freeze temperature ranges.
2. Made In Britain Marque
We have recently become the first UK-based fridge van convertor with the Made In Britain accolade, created to help buyers, at home and abroad, identify and choose British made goods. This recognition will reassure our customers that all our conversions are manufactured and installed in the UK under strict quality management procedures.
3. ISO 100% Pass Rate
We have received top marks at a latest quality inspection for the joint ISO9001 and ISO14001 quality management standards, being one of the first companies to integrate the two standards into one examination. Auditors reviewed all the policies and procedures we currently use to manufacture our fridge van conversions, ensuring they are traceable, meet high quality standards, and confirm to purchasing, supply, goods and document control. The flawless inspection comes just a year after we expanded into new manufacturing premises and invested heavily in new machinery for faster and more accurate insulated lining kits production.
4. Investors In People
We first received the Investors In People accreditation back in 2014, and since then we have embraced high performance working principles leading to significant growth and expansion. We recently decided to the assessed against the sixth generation of the Investors In People standard, launched in 2015, which reflects changes in the world of work. Following a rigorous assessment, the report stated highlighted the company’s clear commitment to ensure the future success of the business, developing knowledge, skills and the development of the workforce.
5. Renault ‘Ready For Business’ Range
CoolKit has been chosen by Renault Trucks UK as the official provider of their refrigerated conversions for the new Ready For Business range of commercial vehicles. Thanks to our quality, craftsmanship and after-sales efforts, we were recognised as being closely aligned with their own philosophies in providing customers with a truly premium partner.
6. Toyota Authorised Convertor
We have been one of the first businesses to be chosen as a Toyota Authorised Convertor, following the launch of the programme at the CV Show in April. Toyota confirms that our conversions meet their stringiest quality standards in every aspect of the design and manufacturing process, including warranty and after-sales service.
7. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Recognised Convertor
This year we have also successfully become a Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Recognised Convertor, providing us with yet another confirmation of the manufacturing craftsmanship that takes place in our UK-based facility, and another reason for our customers to place their trust with a CoolKit fridge van to serve their businesses on a daily basis.
This year we have worked closely on innovation and research & development, finding new products to launch into the market and improving our existing product offering. Time and efforts were allocated to attend exhibitions both in the UK and overseas to source new and improved materials to bring to our customers, whilst also looking into new technologies and ways of manufacturing our products to always stay one step ahead of the competition.
1. Working With University Students
This year we worked closely with Lancaster University’s engineering department’s undergraduates in mechanical engineering, utilising their technical knowledge to analyse the stresses of our new box body refrigerated vehicle, looking into the measurements of the insulated lining kit utilised which in return provides us with a competitive payload, strength and performance ratings. We have also been involved with the engineering students from Burnley College to create 3D printed corner caps and other parts of our box body solution.
2. New Lining Kit Developed
To provide improvements to our existing range of refrigerated panel vans, as well as new initiates for a box body solution, we have developed a new insulated lining kit, utilising a lightweight foam, which is actually 10 times stronger that the previous solution, allowing for a larger load area and lighter conversion. We have also introduced a laser scanning technology, resulting in a cutting-edge measuring technique to ensure every curve of the vehicle is precisely measured for a precise and robust conversion.
3. CurtAir Solution
This year we also introduced the UK market to the first air curtain solution for freezer vehicles, replacing the traditional PVC strip curtains. CurtAir By CoolKit creates an effective and invisible climate separation in the refrigerated vehicles load space, keeping the cold air in and the ambient air out during door openings. This is a quiet and efficient solution, offering increased savings in fuel consumption as it eases the pressure from the cooling unit and significant payload savings compared the the strip curtains.
“It was excellent news to hear that we were shortlisted for the TCS&D Award.
It is important that we concentrate on the little details within our conversions that make a big difference in performance levels and durability, which allows us to stand out from the rest of the competition. This year, we have spent time and effort on our quality assurance; from the customer experience on our website and the way we handle enquiries, to building customer relationships and understanding their business requirements and keeping them updated throughout the design and manufacture of their vehicle. We have also focused on ensuring that our handover experience and the after-sales service provided reflect our high standards.
It is extremely important for us to constantly source feedback from our customers on every aspect of our business; they are the users of our products daily and they shape the way we evolve what we do.
It was an honour to have won the award. We have built a business with enthusiastic and dedicated individuals passionate about our product offering and creating perfect solutions for our growing customer base. Even with a perfect product offering, we would be unable to achieve greatness and 100% customer satisfaction without a great team of people within the business and it is a real pleasure to take the trophy back to the office.
So, this award is dedicated to all our growing customer base and our dedicated workforce. Thank you for making us the industry-leaders in refrigerated vehicles”
