Renault Pro+ is broadening its range of electric LCVs with the introduction of the Master Z.E. large electric van. The vehicle has been launched as the ideal workhorse for emissions-free access to city centres, ideally suited to last-mile deliveries.
With the addition of the Master Z.E., Renault Pro+ is enlarging its e-LCV line-up consistent with the ‘Drive To Future’ strategic plan, in which 100% of vans will be electrified. The launch of the Master Z.E. meets the needs of professionals to adapt to urban environmental issues.
In this week’s blog we will take a closer look at the information available so far on this vehicle.
The Master Z.E. incorporates all the know-how of Renault: a new generation battery, a high energy efficiency engine and connected services.
The vehicle is fitted with the 57kW/76hp R75 high energy efficiency electric engine. This engine, tried and tested on ZOE and Kangoo Z.E., makes the vehicle ideal for use in and around the city. The vehicle’s maximum speed is 100 km/h (72mph).
Master Z.E. is fitted with the new-generation 33kWh “Z.E. 33” battery with optimised electronic management. This battery combines the expert know-how of Renault and LG Chem to optimise energy density. This upgrade was possible without any trade-offs in reliability, safety in use or load space. The vehicle has a real-world driving range of 124 km and charging time of six hours – if is worth noting that these figures are for the vehicle prior to a refrigerated conversion, figures may change once the vehicle has been converted.
Renault Pro+ are labelling the Master Z.E. has a great partner for business users working in urban areas, thanks to the optional wide view mirror, the reversing camera with a screen built into the inside rear-view mirror, or the reversing radar. The cab features a genuine mobile office space with a dashboard swivel table and document holder, as well as many ergonomic storage compartments.
The vehicle includes six versions, with three lengths (from 2.6 to 3.7 metres) and two heights (1.7 or 1.9 metres). The four van versions feature an 8-13m3 load space and a payload of 975kg to 1,128kg (before refrigerated conversion). The two platform cab versions have a transport capacity of up to 22m3 and feature payloads of 1,377kg (L2H1) and 1,355kg (L3H1).
Renault Pro+ have also introduced EASY CONNECT For Fleet, an ecosystem of connected services introduced for business users to simplify fleet management and reduce costs, with secure and affordable connectivity, as well as partnerships with the best-known telematics service providers to meet each company’s requirements.
The system can securely provide the data from the Renault vehicles fleet by means of the Renault Communication Adapter unit, which connects to the vehicle’s electronics. With this, there’s no longer any need to go and get information from the driver or in the vehicle, the telematics unit remotely sends relevant information in real time.
We have been collaborating with vehicle manufacturers for several years now, creating effective refrigerated conversions on existing electric vans, most recently showcasing the Renault Kangoo Z.E. Refrigerated Van at the Commercial Vehicle Show. Building on this relationship with Renault, we will soon be taking delivery of our first Master Z.E. – no doubt we will face new challenges to effectively convert the vehicle into a temperature-controlled transport solution but overcoming these will be a major step towards our goal of being able to produce a full range of electric powered conversions to suit vehicles in all segments of the LCV market.
