CoolKit chosen by Eurofins Food and Water Testing UK
Supporting Mission-Critical Food and Water Testing
CoolKit, the largest specialist in temperature-controlled and refrigerated light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in the UK, has been chosen by Eurofins Food and Water Testing UK to supply 22 new refrigerated vans to support the businessesโ critical operations.
Eurofins Food and Water Testing UK plays a vital role in ensuring food and water quality, and safety across the UK, serving clients from major food manufacturers and retailers to water companies. The business offers a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art analytical techniques spanning microbiology, chemical testing, including contaminant and allergen detection, to support its customers’ increasingly stringent requirements.
Operating under strict 24-to-48-hour timeframes, the entire fleet of 72 vehicles is refrigerated to maintain tight temperature control and ensure samples arrive at their laboratories in perfect condition and comply with all regulations.
Purpose-Built Fleet Renewal for Temperature Control
CoolKit supplied 16 Mercedes Citan vans and six Mercedes Sprinter vans to Eurofins Food and Water Testing UK as part of the businessesโ fleet renewal process. The vans were converted and fitted with GAH refrigeration units to meet the specific requirements of transporting food and water samples.
They opted to purchase the vans instead of leasing them to accommodate their high mileage needs of 70,000 per van and maintain operational efficiency. CoolKit was able to provide an eight-week turnaround from quote to delivery.
Sustainability and Efficiency by Design
A key priority for Eurofins Food and Water Testing UK in selecting the additions to its fleet was aligning with the companyโs wider sustainability goals. The Mercedes-Benz models were chosen for their excellent fuel efficiency and full compliance with Clean Air Zone and Ultra Low Emission Zone standards, supporting Eurofins’ commitment to reducing environmental impact.
Further enhancing this commitment, CoolKitโs bespoke vehicle conversions use lightweight materials that significantly reduce the overall vehicle weight and allow for maximum payload. This not only improves fuel economy and lowers emissions, but also reduces operational costs, delivering both environmental and financial benefits.
