CoolKit, the UKโ€™s largest refrigerated van specialist, marked its 20th anniversary in style by reclaiming the โ€˜Refrigerated Panel Van of the Yearโ€™ title at the TCS&D Awards.

It is the fifth time CoolKit has secured the prestigious trophy, having previously won in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2023. The 2025 win underlines the Lancashire manufacturerโ€™s reputation as the UK leader in temperatureโ€‘controlled transport solutions.

Founded in 2005 with just four employees supplying insulation kits for vans, CoolKit has since grown into a national market leader employing more than 140 people at its stateโ€‘ofโ€‘theโ€‘art Blackburn facilities. Over the past year alone, the company has invested over ยฃ2 million in local operations, creating jobs, expanding production and strengthening its role in the regional economy.

The specialist has deep roots in East Lancashire, starting in Padiham, moving to Burnley and now operating from a 100,000 sq ft site in Blackburn capable of handling up to 300 vans on site. Output recently reached record levels of more than 160 converted vans and insulated box bodies in a single month โ€“ the highest in the companyโ€™s history.

As the demand for sustainable refrigerated transport solutions grows, CoolKit continues to lead through innovation and environmental responsibility.

The companyโ€™s lightweight insulation systems, use of recycled materials, and advanced refrigeration technologies enable fleet operators to reduce emissions while maintaining optimal temperature performance.

These innovations help customers meet both operational efficiency goals and environmental targets โ€” a key reason CoolKit remains the go-to partner for temperature-controlled vehicle conversions across the UK.

CoolKitโ€™s founder and chief executive officer, Rupert Gatty, said: โ€œReaching our 20-year anniversary is a proud moment for the whole team, so to do it with this award is extra special.

โ€œCoolKit has always been rooted in East Lancashire, and our growth is a testament to the skills, hard work and innovation of people in this region. As we look ahead, weโ€™re excited to continue investing locally, creating opportunities, and building on our reputation as a centre of excellence in refrigerated transport.โ€

CoolKitโ€™s 20-year journey โ€” from a small Burnley start-up to the UKโ€™s leading refrigerated van converter โ€” showcases how Lancashire innovation and commitment can drive national success.

As CoolKit enters its next chapter, the company remains focused on growth, sustainability, and local investment, ensuring its position at the forefront of the temperature-controlled vehicle industry for years to come.
