Vehicle End of Life & Recycling Information

CoolKit Added Components End of Life Register

At CoolKit, we are committed to supporting responsible vehicle end-of-life treatment and environmental compliance.

CoolKit is not the original vehicle manufacturer (OEM) for the base vehicles used in our refrigerated and specialist conversions. However, in line with the intent of the End-of-Life Vehicles Regulations 2003, we have identified the materials and components added during our conversion process and assessed their potential reuse, recycling, recovery, or disposal routes at vehicle end-of-life.

Detailed dismantling and recycling information for the base vehicle is provided by the original vehicle manufacturer. CoolKit-added components are generally non-structural and can be identified during dismantling and treatment.

Where components contain potentially hazardous substances, including refrigerants, batteries, or WEEE-related electrical items, suitable segregation and disposal routes are identified within our register.

Register of Added Components

  • Refrigeration gases must be recovered by certified personnel.
  • Electrical components and control systems should be treated as WEEE waste where applicable.
  • Batteries must be removed and recycled through approved battery recycling schemes.
  • Composite bonded materials may require specialist waste handling or energy recovery routes.
  • Metal components should be separated for conventional recycling where possible.

CoolKit recommends that all end-of-life vehicles are processed through authorised treatment facilities (ATFs) in accordance with UK environmental regulations.

End of Life Treatment Guidance

Shelving & storage systems Cargo area Aluminium, steel, plywood No Reuse or metal recycling Reusable where condition permits

Environmental Commitment

CoolKit continually reviews materials and processes used in vehicle conversions to support increased recyclability, reduced environmental impact, improved waste segregation, responsible disposal practices, and compliance with applicable UK environmental legislation.
