Driving Sustainability In Our Environment & Our Community

CoolKit is committed to sustainability through a strong focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. We aim to minimise our environmental impact, promote social responsibility, and uphold transparent, ethical governance practices.

By integrating these core values into every aspect of our operations, we strive to foster long-term positive change for both our stakeholders and the planet.

We also remain committed to exceeding the requirements of ISO14001:2015, a standard we have upheld since 2015.

Our Environment

CoolKit is at the forefront of decarbonising the temperature-controlled transportation industry. By investing in research and development, we’ve introduced innovative solutions that significantly reduce environmental impact.

Leading the Charge in Electric Vehicle Conversions

CoolKit has tackled the challenges posed by electric vehicle (EV) conversions, particularly in relation to weight and range. Through extensive research and development, the company has developed industry-leading payload capabilities, enabling fleets to reduce emissions while maintaining high efficiency.

Waste Reduction Initiatives

At CoolKit, we’re proud to take meaningful steps toward reducing waste and protecting the environment. Here’s how we’re making a difference:

  • 100% of HDPE (high-density polyethylene) waste is now baled and recycled, avoiding disposal as compactable waste.
  • 93% of acetone is recycled for reuse, reducing the need to purchase new materials and preventing hazardous waste.
  • 100% of aerosols are crushed and recycled, ensuring they don’t end up as hazardous waste.

Environmental Responsibility: WEEE and Battery Disposal

CoolKit is committed to meeting its legal obligations for the responsible handling, recycling, and disposal of electrical equipment and batteries. To support our customers and ensure compliance with UK environmental regulations, we provide clear guidance on how to return or safely dispose of Melform units and any associated batteries.

WEEE Disposal and Takeback Information

CoolKit provides free takeback of old Melform units when customers purchase a like‑for‑like replacement. To arrange a return, please contact us and we will provide instructions. We retain records of all WEEE returned for a minimum of four years.
If you prefer not to return your Melform unit to us, it can be disposed of through your local authority electrical recycling centre or a council electrical waste collection service. Electrical equipment must not be disposed of in household waste; the crossed‑out wheeled‑bin symbol on your product indicates that it must be recycled responsibly.

Battery Disposal Information

Industrial and automotive batteries must not be disposed of in general or household waste. Customers should recycle waste batteries using appropriate collection schemes such as local authority battery recycling points, council collection services, or retailers offering battery take‑back. The crossed‑out wheeled‑bin symbol and chemical symbols such as Hg, Cd and Pb indicate that batteries require separate recycling to prevent environmental harm and support the safe recovery of materials.

Sustainability Through Eco-Friendly Refrigeration and Materials

CoolKit’s exclusive distributorship of pbx refrigerators, with near-zero Global Warming Potential (GWP), coupled with the use of lower GWP refrigerants and sustainable materials like alternative timber panels, plays a significant role in reducing environmental impact and combating deforestation.

Lightweight Conversions for Enhanced Efficiency

CoolKit conversions are 100kg lighter than traditional methods, thanks to the use of extruded polystyrene insulation that is 60% lighter and 17% more energy-efficient. This innovation supports sustainability by reducing energy consumption and vehicle wear.

Cost Savings Through Efficiency

Fleets using CoolKit’s solutions save an average of £55,000 annually per 10 vans, thanks to improved vehicle efficiency, contributing to both environmental and financial sustainability.

Collaborating for a Greener Future

CoolKit partners with its suppliers to ensure they adhere to ISO 14001 certification, modern slavery policies, and reduced packaging waste, embedding sustainability throughout its entire supply chain.
