CoolKit’s operations manager has been named finalist in the Rising Star category of this year’s Logistics UK Logistics Awards.

Alicia Threlfall, 28, joined the leading convertor of temperature controlled solutions as a sales and marketing trainee in 2013; a 21-year-old, straight out of university and keen to embark on the world of work.

Seven years on, the 28-year-old is CoolKit’s Operations Manager, overseeing a workforce of 60, and has been earmarked for a place in the senior management team.

Her career progression under the age of 30 clearly impressed those judging the awards and she will find out if she takes the winning title at a celebratory reception in London in December.

The awards, now in their fourth year, are the most prestigious in the sector which is at the heart of every part of the British economy and celebrate the companies and individuals who have made a significant contribution to the logistics and supply chain sectors.

Alicia said: “This is a fantastic accolade and while I’m certainly not one who likes to take centre stage, it is rewarding to know that I’m doing a good job and am being recognised among my peers.”

Rupert Gatty, CoolKit CEO, said: “Over the last 12 months, ensuring quality performance has been Alicia’s primary focus and her results include an impressive 20% increase in operational efficiency throughout the business, as well as a huge 40% improvement in staff retention.

“Alicia truly has the potential, drive and determination to lead CoolKit into the next decade and beyond and we wish her every success in the awards.”

David Wells, Chief Executive of Logistics UK, commented: “During the Covid-19 pandemic, our industry has been recognised by government – quite rightfully – as key to the ongoing success of the British economy and our 2020 awards will provide the ideal opportunity to acknowledge the extraordinary achievements of those working in our sector.

“These finalists represent the ‘best of the best’ of our sector; the businesses and individuals determined to keep Britain trading, both at home and overseas. They have been selected for their outstanding commitment, knowledge and expertise, and represent a wide range of UK companies across transport modes and business sectors.

“With a fantastic number of entrants this year, each shortlisted business had to fight off very tough competition to secure their place in the final line up, and those who scoop the top prizes will be truly at the top of their business games.

“They should be justly proud of the contribution they are making to both the logistics sector and wider UK economy.”
