When Maria Grieco was given the opportunity to cook for 155 guests at a Lake District event, she feared she would have to declineโ€ฆuntil CoolKit came to the rescue.

The vivacious character behind Dinner at Mariaโ€™s Supper Club โ€“ who usually holds dinner parties for guests at her own home, was thrilled to be asked to cater for the Food & Drink Means Business Live! event held in Cumbria.

Maria, who works for the NHS in cancer services, said: โ€œI started Dinner at Mariaโ€™s purely by accident, as, having held a charity event at my home and raising ยฃ1,500, I was constantly being asked to hold further events, and I thought โ€˜why notโ€™?โ€

Her initial excitement at being offered the FDMB Live! event was soon dulled by logistics; all the food was to be cooked at the event from fresh ingredients; how would she get it there chilled to the required temperature?

Maria said: โ€œI thought I was going to have to decline what was an incredible opportunity until CoolKit stepped in as my hero!โ€

Attending the event ourselves, we offered to go and collect Maria in one of our refrigerated vans, in order that she could transport the food safely and secure her place as caterer for the event.

โ€œIt was a no brainer for us. We were going to the event ourselves, Darwen is en route, so why make Maria miss out on a great opportunity?โ€

Glen McCulley, Sales & Marketing Director at CoolKit

Sales manager Ben Ridge was Mariaโ€™s escort for the day and made sure she remembered him when giving out portions of her Middle Eastern food!

Maria, who promotes her business through the Supper Club booking platform WeFiFo, said: โ€œI never knew you could hire a refrigerated van and have turned down thousands of pounds of work in recent years because I couldnโ€™t transport food. Now I know this is possible I will definitely keep this in mind for the future.โ€
